Clementines "A small,Sweet & full Citrus from Calabria!

Born from the cross between orange and mandarin, the Clementines of Calabria are characteristic of the province of Cosenza where they grow "protected" by other citrus groves.
It is clementine, a citrus fruit produced from the hybridization of mandarin and orange , one of the best-selling fruits after oranges. It differs from mandarins for the absence of seeds, the color of the pulp, more orange, and for the taste similar to orange, with a perfect balance between sweet and sour. Those of the Sibari plain , thanks to the quality of the soil, the cultivation techniques, but also the presence of the Pollino and the Sila hills , which prevent the formation of wind and hail, have incomparable organoleptic properties , which make them easily distinguishable from the imported Clementines.
Since 1940 they have always been present on the Italian market; among other things, after decades of experimental cultivation, the fruits retain the qualities of the first hybrids and are increasingly in demand by the consumer.
The tree is very similar to that of the mandarin , it blooms and bears fruit slowly and irregularly, and the harvest takes place between November and January.
Consumed mainly fresh, Clementines are useful in various types of diets , in those low in sodium for those suffering from high blood pressure or in those for slimming: they have only 50 calories per hundred 100 grams.
In the kitchen, they are used natural or to make juices, jams, sorbets or syrups , they are excellent for desserts, but also to flavour meat or fish.
